Autumn is here, and there is nothing like a front row seat to all of the great things that come with the fall season.

Football for the sports fan, who can resist the tailgate parties on game day. Flying your team flag proudly for the duration of the season, or maybe wrapping it around you if you are getting cold in the stands. Whether cheering on your child’s team or showing support for your favorite college or NFL team, the fall season says football for so many folks.

Many of us long for the fall because that means the apple orchards and cider mills are open for business. To smell the fresh cinnamon sugar donuts is like the call of the wild to some and getting the fist glass of cider for the season can be a moment of bliss. Some of the orchards turn into a small country fair with craft booths, music and tons of activities for the kids. Taking a hay ride is still one of my favorite things to do.

Corn mazes are another great fall activity, some of them so elaborate it can take more than an hour to find your way out of the maze. Haunted forests, spooky hayrides and haunted houses are what fall means to some. We can’t forget the trick or treating and Halloween parties with all the ghosts and goblins. A nice event that has caught on is Trunk or Treat sponsored by local churches and community groups. These events are held in a safe parking lot where children visit the cars of volunteers to get candy and other goodies. Often, there is a car decorating contest to help make it fun and festive for all.

Taking in the colors of fall is like seeing the fireworks on 4th of July. Trees and plants bursting forth with all the warm glorious shades of orange, yellow and reds. The day skies seem to have a more majestic blue with the most magnificent sunsets lighting up the night sky.

We hope you have the chance to get out and enjoy the beauty that is the fall season.
